Exhibition Dates:
03.18.11

CARRIER PIGEON: Illustrated Fiction and Fine Art is proud to invite you to commemorate the release of issue no. 2 on March 18 from 8–10 p.m. in the main space adjacent to Sacred Gallery. An exhibition of artwork from contributors to the first four issues will be accompanied by wine provided by the Chelsea Wine Vault. The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 8:30pm.

In keeping with the very best of the artist-inspired journals and magazines of the last one hundred years Carrier Pigeon is fulfilling its mission to produce a fiction and fine art journal of exceptional quality, originality and collectability. The publication’s second issue is adorned on both front and back covers with an original hand-pulled and signed screen print created exclusively for the magazine by ten artists in ten editions of 100 magazines each.

Artists Matt Barteluce, Christopher Darling, Kristy Caldwell, Stephen A. Fredericks, Rie Hasegawa, Ray Jones, Denise Kasof, Justin Sanz, Russ Spitkovsky and Bruce Waldman contributed original cover drawings for the complete edition of 1,000 magazines. In addition, the plastic containment bags are screen-printed with a design by Jason Punches, the designer of the issue.

Please come out and join us for the celebration of the fall release of Carrier Pigeon Vol. 1, issue no. 2!

Carrier Pigeon is a magazine of illustrated fiction and fine art. By giving full creative control to the writers, artists, illustrators, and designers this magazine deconstructs the conventional perception of the singularity of each artistic discipline while setting a new and uncharted standard for their successful merging. Carrier Pigeon provides contributing literary and visual artists with a venue for telling independent stories in an undisturbed environment by offering unconditional artistic freedom in both direct subject matter and the interpretation of text. The main goal of this journal is to provide a magazine that itself is a piece of artwork.
