Erica Reade, 29, was born and raised in Montreal Canada, and has been living in NYC since 2007. She has been shooting photos for the last five years.
Erica never leaves home without one of her cameras, and her simple inspiration is to capture life as she sees it. Whether she shoots the message someone has spray-painted on a wall, a shy smile shared across the subway, or a vibrant market place in another country, she aims to tell a city's many stories.
Skateboarding is a way of life, a culture, one firmly but subtly entwined in NYC's streets. She shoots to illustrate the heartfelt passion skateboarders have for their boards and their skill, and from the firm belief that one cannot capture NY's stories without paying homage to the unmistakable sound skateboard wheels lend the city's soundtrack.
Her website is: www.ericareadeimages.com, and she is a contributing photographer to NYSkateboarding.com. She has displayed her work at the Skinny Bar, the Division of Human Works Gallery, Bushwick Open Studios, Art Bar, Tea Lounge Cafe, the Frontrunner Gallery and Panda Bar.
She is currently working on her film photography skills.
